1. Platform Bed Frame
A platform bed is a very sturdy low profile bed frame that holds the mattress. Platform beds do not require a box spring, which makes them more affordable to use.
That’s why all you have to do is buy a mattress and a platform bed frame, and voila, you got your bed ready.
Pros: Many platform beds come with built-in storage shelves (as does the one in the image above).
Cons: However, they typically do not have headboards or footboards.
2. Panel Bed Frame
Panel beds are typically high bed frames that require a box spring to hold up the mattress. Panel bed frames are the most common types of furniture in terms of bedding.
Cons: This makes them slightly pricier than platform beds.
Pros: But here’s the good news about them. Panel bed frames have headboards and footboards, which makes them more decorative.
3. Canopy Bed Frame

A canopy bed frame has 4 tall posts at each corner of the bed. All 4 of these posts are connected by another frame, forming a canopy on top of your bed.
Pros: Most people tend to use these to hang curtains, which keep the bed warmer and block out any outside light. That means…better sleep!
But here’s another reason I really like canopy beds. They’re really easy to decorate. For example, you can hang string lights on them, and trust me, it looks so aesthetic.
Cons: Canopy bed frames are usually more expensive because they require more wood and other materials. Additionally, they are also not in trend nowadays.
4. Sleigh Beds
Sleigh beds are similar to panel beds as they both have a headboard and footboard. However, the difference is that sleigh beds curve outward at the headboard and the footboard.
From my experience, sleigh beds are the most common in master bedrooms.
This is because sleigh beds tend to be much bigger than a “normal bed.” And as you probably guessed, master bedrooms are also bigger! They’re like a match made in heaven.
Pros: Most sleigh beds do not require a box spring, saving you money.
Cons: They may feel too big in small bedrooms.
5. Headboards
I’ve mentioned headboards a few times already. Now, it’s time to explain what they really are.
A headboard is a type of furniture that attaches to the top (or head) of the bed. In simpler terms, it’s the big piece that sticks up from the part of the bed where your head is supposed to go.
Pros: Headboards help your pillows stay in place and block out cold air, meaning better quality sleep for you.
Cons: It makes your bed look bigger, which makes your bedroom look smaller. Getting rid of it can free up some space and make your bedroom look bigger.
6. Footboards
Footboards are similar to headboards.
In simple terms, the footboard is the piece of frame that sticks out from the part of the bed where your feet are supposed to go.
Here’s the unique part about footboards, though. Some footboards are high, while other footboards are relatively low.
Pros: the footboard helps keep your sheets in place. Sometimes, they also help keep your feet in proper position.

7. Innerspring Mattresses
An innerspring mattress is the traditional and most basic type of mattress that most people just call a “spring mattress.”
As the name suggests, an innerspring mattress is made of metal springs that make the bed really bouncy. Does that ring a bell?
I guarantee that you’ve definitely jumped on a spring mattress before.
Pros: Innerspring mattresses are really durable. Oh yeah, and they’re fun to jump on.
Cons: They make more noise and some people may feel the coils (springs) stabbing into them. Ouch.
8. Latex Mattresses
Latex mattresses are a type of mattress made from latex foam. These are not too common and most people probably haven’t heard of these before.
Pros: Latex mattresses don’t collect dust and bacteria as quickly as they are made of organic material
Cons: They are much heavier and come with higher price tags.
9. Memory Foam Mattresses
Finally, we’re on to the type of mattress you’ve probably heard of before. Memory foam mattresses are the most common and usually the most favorable among people.
Pros: studies show that long-term use of memory foam mattresses helps reduce body aches and pains. What a deal maker, huh.
Cons: Memory foam mattresses retain more heat than most mattresses, meaning they may get uncomfortably hot during the night.

A lot of bedroom furniture can store stuff, such as nightstands or dressers.
However, this category is for bedroom furniture whose purpose is storage and nothing else.
10. Lingerie Chests
Lingerie chests are great for small bedrooms because they are tall and narrow. These chests usually have about 4 to 8 drawers and can be used to store just about anything.
I’ve seen people store clothing, files, beauty products, and so much more in these bedroom furniture chests for storage.
Pros: Lingerie chests do not take up much floor space. So if you have a small bedroom with slanted walls, this is a great option.
Cons: It can be hard to find a lingerie chest that fits the color and ambiance of your bedroom.
11. Blanket Chests

Blanket chests are rectangular chests made of solid wood. They have a really simple design and do not come with any drawers.
Their purpose is to store bed linen, pillows, clothing, or blankets (as the name suggests).
Furthermore, they are typically placed at the foot of your bed, just like the decor idea above shows.
Pros: They have a LOT of storage and you can virtually dump anything you want in there. I like to call it “The Ultimate Bedroom Storage Box.”
Cons: These are not stylish storage furniture and they may ruin the look of your bedroom.
12. Gentleman’s Chests
A gentleman’s chest is similar to a lingerie chest, except that it is much wider. In other words, a gentleman’s chest is a tall AND wide storage cabinet.
One side of the cabinet has drawers while the other has space for you to hang jackets, pants, ties, and other clothing.
Pros: They have different types of storage. It’s like an all-in-one bedroom storage solution.
Cons: They are really big and take up a lot of available space in your bedroom.
13. Wardrobes
You’ve probably heard of a wardrobe before. In simple terms, a wardrobe is a tall and wide cabinet intended for JUST clothes.
Wardrobes are similar to gentleman’s chests, but the difference is that these types of bedroom furniture do not have drawers like gentleman’s chests do.
Pros: They are one of the best types of bedroom furniture for storing your clothes. Plus, they’re in style, so companies are constantly coming out with new designs.
Cons: Wardrobes take up a lot more space than other storage options, such as chests or drawers. Also, a lot of modern-day wardrobes are made of low-quality plastic.
14. Armoires
I’ve seen so many people get armoires confused with wardrobes because they’re so similar. A lot of the times, “armoires” and “wardrobes” are even used interchangeably.
But trust me, they’re not the same thing.
The difference is that armoires have shelves, drawers, AND hanging rails, making them fit to store more than just clothing.
Plus, armoires have a more intricate design and tend to look fancier than wardrobes. You could probably tell from the image above.

A jewelry armoire is a tall piece of furniture with a stack of many drawers. It also features cabinet-like doors on which you can hang your jewelry.
The drawers of a jewelry armoire usually have built-in organizers that makes it easy to sort all your jewelry in any way you want.
Pros: Jewelry armoires are the best types of bedroom furniture to organize and keep all your jewelry in one place.
Cons: If you don’t have loads of jewelry, half the drawers would go empty. And that’s just wasting precious space that you could use for something more useful to you.

A credenza is a piece of furniture that is short, long, and has 4 small legs. It is primarily used for storing almost anything in your bedroom.
Pros: Credenzas look great in your bedroom because they typically have flat tops that you can decorate as you please. So go ahead and put your favorite plant on top of it!
Cons: Many affordable credenzas have no design to them and they just look like a big rectangular wooden block in your bedroom.

Floating nightstands serve the same purpose as traditional nightstands (to store accessories in an easily accessible location).
But the difference is that floating nightstands do not have legs, meaning that they are mounted right into your wall.

Cons: Ottomans have really high demand and unfortunately companies know that. That’s why they’re so much more expensive than they should be.

A bedroom desk is one of a kind. Of course, you’ll find various styles of bedroom desks on the market. But a desk stays a desk.
A bedroom desk is a small rectangular shaped table that is perfect to work on. I recommend placing your desk in a spot where you get lots of natural light.
Pros: These types of bedroom furniture usually come with some type of storage options, such as drawers or shelves.
Cons: Desks take up a lot of space in your bedroom. And what makes this worse is that you can’t store anything underneath the desk because you need that space for your desk chair.
22. Bean Bag Chair
A bean bag chair is essentially just a big bean bag looking chair that you can lay back on and relax.
Some bean bag chairs have a slight indent where you can sit, while others are literally just a giant bean bag that you can sit on in any way.
Pros: From my experience, bean bag chairs are one of the most comfortable types of bedroom furniture for seating. If you have a reading nook in your bedroom, this is the furniture you want.
Cons: Bean bag chairs do not last very long as they rip really easily.
23. Chaise Lounge Chair
A chaise lounge chair is a really long chair that is sometimes shaped similarly to a sofa.
Sometimes a chaise lounge chair is a part of a sectional sofa. But you can also purchase a chaise lounge chair separately for your bedroom.
Additionally, some chaise lounge chairs are also arched to provide more support and comfort for your body.
But I’ve met plenty of people that just don’t like this arch. In fact, I’m one of those. I personally feel as if the arch is not as comfortable as the manufacturer thought it would be.
Pros: Chaise lounge chairs provide support for your entire body, including your legs. Most chairs do not provide support for your legs.
Cons: These are one of the most expensive types of chairs due to their luxurious look.
24. Rocking Chair
A rocking chair is a chair that, well…rocks.
When I say rocking chair, you might picture a traditional wooden rocking chair that was used in the 1800s. Luckily, there are a lot better designs out now, like the one in the image above.
And before you ask, yes, you can have a rocking chair in your bedroom. Most people tend to think that rocking chairs are just for your living room, but that’s far from true.
Pros: There are many styles of rocking chairs on the market, many of which are really affordable.
Cons: If you don’t have a carpeted bedroom, a rocking chair can make a lot of noise. And that’s just annoying from any types of bedroom furniture.

Cons: The mirror gives this type of dresser a huge appearance. So if you have a small bedroom, it would look out of place.

Vanity dressers are the smaller version of double dressers with mirrors. They have a mirror, space for a vanity stool, at least 1 column of drawers, and a few shelves.
Since bedroom vanity dressers are primarily used for applying make up, they usually come with lighting around the mirror.
